Right now, you can only verify a top-level domain, such as www.example.com. A website that looks like www.example.com/example isn't a top-level domain.
HTML file upload and HTML meta tags are the only ways to verify.
- When uploading your HTML file, it should go to your top-level folder, often called the "root folder".
- When using the HTML meta tag, you should add it to the first <head> section before the <body> section.
Unfortunately, you can't do either of these for Etsy, Moonfruit, and ArtFire, so you won't be able to verify your website right now.
We’re looking into other ways to verify, and we hope to offer more options soon. If you’d like to suggest a new verification method, let us know!
